Charity
South Stoke Village Hall is a registered charity, number 1117388. The charitable objects are:
“A village hall for the use of the inhabitants of the parish of South Stoke in the county of Somerset (hereinafter called “the area of benefit”) without distinction of political religious or other opinions including use for meetings lectures and classes and for other forms of recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.“
The charity was set up by a Trust Deed in 1974.
Conditions for Hire
Please see the Conditions for Hire document. Any hire of the village hall must comply with these conditions. No dogs are allowed in the hall (except for assistance dogs).
Licensing
The hall has a premises licence, registered at Bath and North East Somerset Council, which allows:
- Exhibition of a Film (Indoors)
- Other Entertainment within Act (Indoors) – Other entertainment means any entertainment of a similar description. Meetings, lectures, exhibitions and private parties.
- Performance of Live Music (Indoors)
- Performance of Recorded Music (Indoors)
- Performance of a Play (Indoors)
The hall does not have an alcohol licence. If you wish to have a paid bar in the village hall for your event, then you need to apply to BathNES Council for a Temporary Event Licence.
Fire Regulations Capacity
The maximum number of people allowed in the building to meet the fire regulations is 100.
However, this exceeds the number of chairs available for a theatre-style event in the hall. It is also more than is comfortable for a standing event. Maximum number of people for any event is 60.
Hire times
The hall can be hired from 9am to 10pm. (Hall to be vacated by 10pm, events to finish by 9.30pm).
Curfew: Any event must be completed, tidied up, all guests to have vacated the building by 10pm.
You must remove any rubbish and recycling generated by your event.
Insurance
The village hall insurance covers the building and public liability of the village hall charity.
However you are not covered if you exceed the maximum number of people allowed in the building (100) or anything involving high risk, you will need to take out your own insurance for such activities, and also inform us of any high risk activity. For example, activities not covered include: Use of inflatable devices (e.g. bouncy castles) in the hall, contact sports, bonfires or fireworks, activities involving children and/or vulnerable adults who will not be supervised by a parent/carer.
Please note we do not need to note the activities of hirers, but we must be informed if a hirer wishes to carry out a high-risk activity.
